News: How to Wash a Wig
Anyone who frequently wears a hair wig should be familiar with how to clean it. Let's begin with some common questions.
Q. How often should I wash my hair wig?
A. If you wear your wig daily, it's advisable to wash it at least once a week. If you wear it less frequently, wash it after a few uses. Avoid storing your wig without cleaning it first. Neglecting to wash your wig can lead to rough hair texture and tangling.
Q. Should I wash my hair wig with cold or warm water?
A. It's well-known that hot water should be avoided for washing hair wigs, but what's the best temperature? We recommend using warm water, at a temperature that feels comfortable to your hands. Cold water is not ideal because warm water effectively removes oils, makeup, and other residues.
Q. Do you have any product recommendations for washing and conditioning my hair wig?
A. You can use any products you prefer, as long as they contain fewer chemicals. Choose a shampoo and conditioner that fits your budget and has a scent you like.
Q. Will deep conditioning damage my hair wig?
A. It depends on the products you choose; always opt for conditioners with minimal chemical ingredients.
Here are the steps for washing a wig:
1. Use a wide-toothed comb to detangle your hair, starting from the ends and working your way up to the roots.
2. While holding your hair, lightly mist it with water at a temperature of 77°F-86°F, being careful not to soak it. After wetting, apply a small amount of pure care hydra shampoo and distribute it evenly through your hair with your fingers.
3. Rinse the shampoo out using warm water at 77°F-86°F.
4. Apply a small amount of pure care hydra conditioner and spread it evenly through your hair with your fingers. For optimal results, consider using the pure care intensive recovery mask occasionally for deeper conditioning, though it's not necessary for every wash.
5. Rinse the conditioner out with warm water at 77°F-86°F.
6. Gently pat and press your hair with a soft towel to remove excess water. Avoid rubbing, squeezing, twisting, or wringing the hair.
7. Place the wig on a folding stand to air dry. If you want to speed up the drying process, fold the wig over and use a blow dryer on the wig cap to prevent tangling, moving the dryer quickly to avoid overheating any one area of the lace. Once the lace is dry, return the wig to the folding stand and wait for the hair to dry completely.
Tips: Avoid brushing your curls while washing. Instead, towel dry and style with your fingers to minimize frizz.
