News: How to Properly Take Off Your Lace Wig
It is widely accepted that securing the hairline with glue is currently the most effective method for blending lace into the scalp and ensuring the wig stays in place, preventing it from slipping off in public. When using glue, it's important to remove the wig carefully rather than yanking it off, as highlighted in our previous post (https://www.hismilehair.com/news_archive.html), which emphasizes the significance of this process.
Now, let's go through the steps:
First, gather the wig into a ponytail to prevent adhesive from getting on the hair and to clearly see the lace seam.
Next, select either an oil-based or alcohol-based adhesive remover. If you opt for an alcohol-based remover, apply it with a Q-Tip or a small brush, avoiding direct spraying on the hair or towards your face, as it may irritate sensitive skin. Allow the remover to sit for a few minutes, and the seam should start to lift on its own. You can apply more remover underneath if needed.
For an oil-based remover like C22, you can spray it directly along the wig seam. This type won't dry out your skin and can also be used to remove adhesive from your skin. After applying, wash the hairpiece with shampoo and cool water.
Once you've used either remover, gently peel the seam away from your face, starting from one side and moving to the other. When the seams are fully detached, carefully lift the wig off your head. If there's any adhesive left on the wig, you can slide it over a mirror to transfer the adhesive, which can then be cleaned off with a scouring pad.
Afterward, place the wig on a stand to help it maintain its shape. Finally, wash your face with soap and warm water to ensure there is no leftover adhesive.
